Science and Technology

The word science was derived from the Latin word ‘scientia’ meaning knowledge. Science is a term used to denote the systematic approach o studying about a particular thing. The most important aspect of science is that any theory formed is verifiable and proved. Technology, on the other hand, is a kind of gained knowledge about something which is used in the development of various new theories and formulates. Though both science and technology almost sound they same, they are much different. But of course they are bound together in almost all the cases.

Science is derived out of someone’s interest and curiosity in studying about some specific topic. The theories generated out of their experiment are verifiable and can be experimentally proved. These theories are usually simple and specific about the topic it discusses and are not made for any immediate application. Technology can be called as an enhancement to science which actually is concerned about the application side and finds ways to enhance the existing applications in order to make it even more sophisticated and efficient. The success of technology is judged based on the performance, efficiency, durability, product ional cost, compatibility to be used in all climatic conditions and other similar essential factors.

In the recent years much technological advancements have been achieved promoting or making the livelihood even more simple and easy. But the fact is that that these inventions do not involve or make use of any scientific theories. Few examples of such inventions are printing, water wheels, irrigation system, barbed wires, fermentation, food preservation and more. The list is lengthy but the point to be insisted here is that science has been lagging behind when compared with technology. Later in the 19th century, science and technology are noticed to be working joining hands together. Chemical industries, electrical industries, electronics and communications are few of these examples. The achievement of electronics and communication are great and can never be picked fault of.

Lately almost all of the new inventions and achievements are developed based on both science and technology. The combination have become more complicated and this combination seems to work well and has given birth to many advanced essential solutions like diagnostic techniques, nuclear magnetic resonance, and much more. The bonding is well built now and the inventions developed based on these two are really marvelous and sure to make wonders in the future too.
